Steave Jobs the co-founder and CEO of Apple has announced his resignation from the company due to health problems.He had played a major role in almost all the products the Apple has developed,the latest being the iPhone and iPad.His resignation letter is

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Tim Cook from Apple itself become the new CEO , suggested by Steve itself.Also as requested, Steve has been elected as Chairman of the Board and will remain with the company in that capacity.

UNIX : How to get record count from zipped file

Sometimes we may need to get records count from file . For that we can use wc -l , command with file name. In some situation the file will be in compressed format . wc -l will not directly work with zipped files . In this case we can do zcat the file and pipe the word count command with it. Example : Let say we have a file cricketData.dat.gz To get word count from the file use : zcat cricketData.dat.gz | wc -l This will give the record count.
